Sad Summer preview

7.26.24 | Preview by Kirsten Newbrough

Another year of Sad Summer Fest is finally upon us! Celebrating their fifth anniversary, this iconic touring festival has brought out perfect lineups every year and 2024 is no different. The tour is currently going on right now and concludes in August on the east coast.

To kick off each day, Sad Summer Festival has picked some great upcoming acts as the crowd begins to fill into the venue. Diva Bleach and Daisy Grenade will start off the afternoon and they do not disappoint as live performers. Diva Bleach recently released an EP titled We Don’t Talk About It with five summer anthems. Daisy Grenade had an exciting year in 2023 as they opened up for Fall Out Boy and also spent the fall with The Maine.

Hot Milk spent some time on Sad Summer Fest in 2022 and they are back! Their live sets bring a ton of energy that gets the crowd moving. Hot Milk’s debut album, A Call To The Void has been out for the past year.

Knuckle Puck and Real Friends are also back together while making a Sad Summer debut this year. These two bands have been touring as one big family for the past few years so it only makes sense that they are spending the summer together as well. Their fan bases have joined forces and will be ready to sing along to both sets.

Real Friends and The Wonder Years have both spent time on Sad Summer before 2024. They are two pop punk legends who have been releasing music for over ten years. Their sets will no doubt be filled with a perfect mix of new and old songs, giving everyone in the audience a chance to sing along.

To end off the night, Mayday Parade and The Maine will no doubt give amazing headlining performances. They were two of the original headliners in 2019 so it feels very full circle to have them back again for the fifth anniversary. These guys always deliver and have been releasing music over the past year that pushes the envelope while remaining true to their original sound.

As a fan of most of these bands, I have attended Sad Summer Fest almost every year and I look forward to seeing some of my favorite artists all in one place. It feels serendipitous to have Mayday Parade and The Maine headlining together again while looking back on the last five summers of this tour. It’s about halfway over now, but it is a must see if it has yet to hit your city!!

stay tuned to see coverage!
